The Smoke Jaguar's recent deployment of the Cougar was a shock; Inner Sphere intelligence sources had been certain that this relatively new 'Mech design was exclusive to Clan Jade Falcon. Speculation has arisen that the Smoke Jaguars "acquired" the Cougar design in exchange for unknown assistance to the beleaguered Jade Falcons. Others speculate that the Jaguars were insulted by the Jade Falcon's use of a "cat" moniker on the design and stole it. The Cougar is used effectively as either a heavy scout or fast-attack front-line combat unit.
